Our Story

My mum gave me her heart to carry and I am bringing my mum’s.

My beloved mum, Moira, was disciplined, graceful, endlessly curious about the world, and deeply committed to helping others. She possessed a quiet strength and an unwavering moral compass. Compassion was not merely something she felt; it was the guiding principle of her life.

We worked side by side in a charity supporting orphaned children, and Mum, who had always been passionate about the education of disadvantaged children and women, devoted herself to the cause with wholehearted conviction. She believed education was the gateway to independence, dignity and justice. She would often say that no society can truly flourish while women and vulnerable children are denied opportunity.

Her convictions were never abstract. She read widely, questioned thoughtfully, and listened deeply to stories of hardship, always seeking ways in which lives might be changed for the better. She admired courage. She honoured resilience. Above all, she believed in the

extraordinary human capacity to rise above oppression when given even the smallest chance.

As I pursued my studies, she followed every essay, every examination, every milestone. She believed unconditionally in the transformative power of knowledge, especially for those who had been denied it. She would say that disadvantaged children and women carried

within them gifts waiting to be discovered, if only someone would open the door and let in the light.

When I earned my doctorate, Mum was in hospital, her heart and kidneys failing. I knew she was holding on, waiting to hear. I rushed to her bedside and told her I had done it. She kissed me, pride shining in her eyes, a sacred moment that time can never diminish.

In her final days, despite her frailty, she would still lift her hand to draw me close. “You know I love you very much,” she whispered, the last words she ever spoke to me.

Letting her go was the hardest moment of my life. She had shaped me, steadied me, and loved me as only a true mother can. Since her passing, I have often visited her

grave, tending her flowers and speaking to her as I always had. Love does not end with death; it deepens. It changes form. It finds new ways to endure.

Two months later, honouring her wishes, her spirit, and her lifelong devotion to vulnerable people, I established the Moira Bradley Foundation. Its mission was born directly from her heart: to defend human rights, to expand educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and women, and to ensure that those without a voice can be heard at last. The Foundation is not merely an organisation; it is the living continuation of her compassion, her intellect, and her unshakeable belief that every human being deserves dignity, opportunity and hope.

The Moira Bradley Foundation stands, above all, as a testament to a mother and son, two lives bound together by love, purpose, and a shared conviction that education and justice can transform the world.

Through this work, my mum’s voice still speaks.

Her values still guide.

Her love still reaches those who need it most.

And in serving them, I carry her heart with me still.
